Picking Up the Right Signals: Versatile Antenna May Become Part of the International Space Station

A unique antenna developed by the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) for the NASA-led International Space Station may soon keep astronauts safe and in touch as they prepare for challenging space walks. Called an Orlan antenna, this two-foot-long "loop" design is being developed for the crew lock, a cramped cylindrical air lock that an hold two space-suited astronauts.
